Government Launches Free E-Bike Scheme for Students Across Pakistan

In a major move to promote green transportation and inclusive economic support, the federal government of Pakistan has announced the distribution of free electric bikes to high achieving students from all educational boards, including the Federal Board. The initiative was revealed during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Free E Bikes for Top Students Across Pakistan

The government will award free electric bikes (e bikes) to outstanding students from across the country as part of its strategy to support education, reduce transportation costs, and encourage the adoption of environment friendly mobility.

PM Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to ensure that the selection process is transparent, with a strong focus on supporting economically disadvantaged students in both urban and rural areas.

Electric Rickshaws & Loaders for Unemployed Citizens

In addition to supporting students, the government will provide electric rickshaws and loaders to jobless individuals across the country. The aim is to boost self employment, provide sustainable livelihood options, and reduce fuel dependency.

This program aligns with the government’s broader vision to create green job opportunities and promote sustainable urban transport systems.

Building an EV Manufacturing and Maintenance Ecosystem

To support the EV transition, the prime minister instructed relevant departments to establish a comprehensive EV ecosystem, including:

  • Local production of electric vehicles
  • Establishment of EV maintenance infrastructure
  • Implementation of third party validation for distribution processes

He also called for a nationwide awareness campaign to educate the public about the electric mobility support programs and their long-term benefits.

Conclusion: A Step Toward a Sustainable and Inclusive Future

The government’s electric vehicle initiative is more than a transportation policy—it’s a vision for a greener, fairer Pakistan. By supporting students and unemployed citizens through clean, cost effective mobility, the plan aims to uplift the economy, empower youth, and pave the way for a sustainable future.
