Govt Employees to Get Salary Allowance Boost

Balochistan Govt Approves 10% Salary Allowance for Employees

In a welcome move for thousands of government employees in Balochistan, the provincial government has officially approved a 10% Ad Hoc Relief Allowance. This decision comes as part of a broader effort to ease the financial strain on public sector workers amid rising inflation and living costs.

Who Will Benefit from the New Salary Allowance?

According to a notification from the Treasury Department, this allowance will apply to all government employees working under Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 1 through 22. These workers will now receive an additional 10% of their basic salary each month. The new benefit will be effective starting July 1, 2025, and will provide a meaningful boost to monthly incomes for eligible staff.

Who Is Not Eligible?

Not all employees will be eligible for this financial relief. The notification clearly states that government workers who are currently posted abroad or on deputation to other departments will not receive this allowance. This ensures that only those actively serving within the provincial departments in Balochistan benefit from the scheme.

No Extra Burden on Budget

An important highlight of this initiative is that the allowance will be disbursed without requiring additional budget allocations. The government has confirmed that it will manage the relief within the approved financial framework for the fiscal year 2025–26. This reflects a balanced approach aimed at employee welfare while maintaining fiscal discipline.

Updated Income Tax Slabs Also Announced

In addition to the salary relief, the government has unveiled the latest income tax brackets for salaried individuals. Those earning up to Rs. 600,000 annually will enjoy full tax exemption. A minimal 1% tax will apply to incomes slightly above this threshold, while the tax rate will progressively increase with higher earnings capping at 35% for those earning over Rs. 4.1 million annually. These updated slabs are designed to provide relief to the middle class and low-income earners.
