Govt Set to Launch Easy Loan Scheme for 100,000 Electric Motorcycles

In a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government of Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to promoting electric vehicles (EVs) as a strategic move to reduce fuel dependency, protect the environment, and strengthen the local EV manufacturing sector.
The prime minister highlighted that transitioning to eco friendly electric transport will save billions of dollars in foreign exchange spent annually on imported fuels and contribute to reducing urban air pollution.
Nationwide EV Scheme Announced for Students, Unemployed Youth, and Women
The federal government is set to launch a large-scale electric vehicle distribution scheme, which includes the provision of:
- 100,000 electric bikes
- 300,000 electric rickshaws and loaders
These EVs will be distributed through easy loan schemes and subsidized pricing, making them accessible to a wider population, particularly students, unemployed youth, and women.
Free Electric Bikes for Top Performing Students
In a landmark move, top performing students from all educational boards across Pakistan, including the Federal Board, will be provided free electric bikes under the government scheme. This initiative aims to reward academic excellence while promoting sustainable transportation.
Priority Access for Unemployed and Low Income Citizens
To generate employment and support livelihoods, electric rickshaws and loaders will be provided on priority to unemployed individuals across the country. The PM emphasized that financially disadvantaged citizens must be given top priority in all government-backed EV programs.
Easy Loan Terms and Financial Assistance for EV Buyers
Citizens interested in acquiring electric bikes, rickshaws, and loaders will be able to benefit from low interest loans, flexible installment plans, and government backed financial support. This step is designed to make clean and green mobility affordable for the general public.
With this bold move, the government of Pakistan is setting the stage for a green transport revolution, aiming to reduce emissions, cut fuel costs, and uplift vulnerable communities. The EV distribution and manufacturing initiative stands as a transformative project for economic empowerment and sustainable development across the country.
